Saffron: prices surge by 125%

TEHRAN. Although Iran’s saffron exports declined sharply in July, this does not necessarily spell bad news for the industry.

July exports slump by 43%

Iran may have shipped as little as 8,359 kg of saffron overseas in July, but exporters were still able to reap high profits. While the export volume ranged more than 43% lower than the 14,748 kg shipped overseas in July last year, the export value rose by 28%. Iran exported saffron worth USD 9.297 million in July 2022 as opposed to USD 7.266 million in July 2021.
