Dried beans: production of black kidney beans declines

BEIJING. As profits for black kidney beans have been low this season, Chinese farmers are likely to increasingly switch to other agricultural commodities. Meanwhile, the mung bean crop in Myanmar is expected to be smaller than last year, which will benefit Chinese traders.

Fewer black kidney beans next season

Domestic demand for black kidney beans remains low, according to a Chinese trader. The behaviour of the growers is completely diverse: some of them want to get rid of their stocks as soon as possible and offer favourable prices, others are not willing to do so and wait for price increases. So far, this has had little effect on export prices, which have fallen by only USD 10/mt compared to last month.
