NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. While Indian market players are currently keeping an eye on the shortage of goods, Canadian traders are still waiting for international demand to finally pick up. Meanwhile, German imports have increased.

Good demand in India

The situation on the Indian chickpea market remains tense. After hopes for a record crop this year were not fulfilled and market players expect an average production, exporters are increasingly holding on to their goods, which leads to a shortage on the Indian, but also on the international market. Small varieties in particular are hardly available, especially since there are hardly any carry-over stocks after last year's relatively small crop.
