Chickpeas: India records high export value

NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. The export value of India's chickpea exports has more than doubled year-on-year. The United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka are particularly eager buyers. Prices thus maintain a high level despite the large production.

Indian exporters at an advantage

With limited commodities available on the world market, the rush for Indian chickpea stocks is on and market experts forecast export value to more than double in the 2022/23 season compared to the previous year. In recent weeks, the high demand has been particularly evident, and although production in India has been high, the great buying interest is helping to keep prices at a high level.
